ItemCapacities of Micropiles Cast in with Pressure(university of khartoum, 2014-11-12) Elarabi, Hussein ; abbas, AminThe use of Micropiles started in early 1950s in Italy for under pinning application of historic building damaged during war II, Micropiles technology is a reliable pile system that can with stand large capacity axial or lateral loads with minimal disturbance to the existing structures, they become very popular due to their ability to transfer loads efficiently through skin friction and due to their many installation advantage over conventional pile systems. A typical construction sequence is shown in Figure 1.Micropiles are small diameter piles that can be installed in almost any type of ground where piles are required with design loads as small as three tons and has high as 500 tons.

ItemConstruction of Micropiles using Pressure Techniques(Journal of Civil Engineering and Architecture,, 2014-06) Elarabi, Hussein ; abbas, AminABSTRACT: This paper discusses the technique of casting concrete of Micropiles with pressures and the consequence of comparisons with normal way of casting concrete (casting with gravity). Preliminary geotechnical studies have been made in specific area in Sudan to predict the soil parameters, and then an experimental work has been done for an estimated number of Micropiles with different diameters and different techniques of placing concrete with various amount of pressure. This study was carried out to learn the usefulness of this technique in the field of structural foundations in Sudan. Capacities of Micropiles were compared in cases of non-pressure casting (normal way of casting concrete) and pressure casting. Through the results, it was found that the entry of pressure factor in the operation of casting concrete increases the capacities of Micropiles. The increased value of ultimate load depends on the amount of pressure applied.

ItemThe relation of Micropile Diameters in case of Pressure casting and non-Pressure casting(university of khartoum, 2014-11-12) Elarabi, Hussein ; abbas, AminABSTRACT: The aim of this paper is to discuss the effect of pressure casting to Micropile on the strength of Micropile and to compare it with the normal way of casting (casting with gravity). With inference of finding a diameter equivalent to the Micropile casting with non-pressure gives the same strength to Micropile that casting with pressure. Preliminary studies have been made in Sudan in specific area, then an experimental works done for a number of Micropiles with different diameters and different techniques of placing concrete with various amount of pressure to find the relationship between diameters in the two cases (casting with pressure, casting with non pressure) these relation were presented graphically. It was concluded that the Micropile casting with pressure gives strength equivalent to Micropile with larger diameter that casting with non-pressure.
