ItemThe Impact of Macroeconomic Variables on Foreign Direct Investment in Sudan from 1972 - 2011( 2016-03-21)This study aims to analyze and evaluate the impact of macroeconomic variables such as GDP, inflation and exchange rate on net inflows FDI in Sudan. For this purpose time series data covering four decades from year 1972 to year 2011 has been taken for analysis. The data is taken from online material available at websites of WBG, IMF, UNCTAD, Central Bank of Sudan and ministry of investment. Descriptive and inferential statistical analyses are performed to evaluate the data and generalize the results. Correlation analysis , regression analysis and OLS technique is used to analyze and conclude the results. The results showed that FDI is positively associated with GDP and Exchange rate, and on the other hand it is negatively associated with Inflation rate. OLS technique is used to measure the strength and significance of explanatory variables against dependent variable. Therefore policy makers should strive to improve the macroeconomic environment to encourage the flow and benefits of FDI in Sudan to support the economic growth of the country.
