Abstract
The study aims to identify the general characteristic of emotional
intelligence of students of secondary school level and its relation to the attitude
towards teachers of mathematics and their academic achievements. It also aims
to study the individual differences in emotional intelligence according to the
variables of sex and place of residence (rural- urban).
The study sample consists 300 students (males and females). The
researcher adopted the description analytical method to investigate the
correlation relationships. The data of the study of emotional intelligence which is
prepared by Dr: Mohammed Rizag Allah Albashairi- University of Ain Shams.
The second is the measurements of attitudes towards the mathematics teachers
which is designed by the researcher.
The two measurements have been applied at secondary schools leveling
Shendi locality. Regarding statistical analysis, the researcher used the ordinal
scale of Measurements and spearman – Pearson’s
Correlation coefficient and the study have resulted:
1- There is a statistically significant positive and indicative correlation
relationship between the total emotional intelligence measurements and
the total attitude of students at secondary school in Shendi locality.
2-There is a statistically significant, positive and indicative correlation
relationship between emotional intelligence measurement and academic
achievements of students at secondary school level in Shendi locaity.
3- There is no a statistically significant, positive and indicative correlation
relationship among the dimensions of social regulation, empathy, emotion
management and academic achievement of students at secondary schools
level in Shendi locality.
4-There is a statistically significant, positive and indicative correlation
relationship among the dimensions of self- awareness, motivation, self-
stimulation and academic achievement of students at secondary schools level
in Shendi locality.
5-There is no a statistically significant, positive and indicative differences
between total emotional intelligence measurement and its five dimensions of
students at secondary schools level in Shendi locality.
6-Emotional intelligence of secondary school students is higher in the total
score in emotional intelligence measurement, social regulation dimension,
emotion management, self- awareness, motivation and self-stimulation in
Shendi locality.
7-There is a statistically significant, positive and indicative correlation
relationship among the total score of attitudes measurements, its three
dimensions and academic achievement of student at secondary schools level
in Shendi locality.
8-There is a statistically significant, positive and indicative correlation
relationship between rural and urban students in the total score in emotional
intelligence measurement and its dimensions of students at secondary school
level in Shendi Locality.
