Title: Taxonomical & Palynological Studies In The Family Amaranthaceae In The Sudan
Author: Safia Abdullahi Abdelmageed, Mohammed
Abstract: The family Amaranthaceae is one of the most important families in the flora of Sudan with its both economic and nutritional values. Most data on classification of this family in Sudan have been based on morphological characters only. Palynological studies on this family have not been used in classification purposes. In this study 12 species from the family Amaranthaceae were collected from different locations and identified using standard floras. They were taxonomically described using morphological characters. Flowers collected and analyzed to study the different types of pollen grains and their morphology. These results compared with each other and with the morphological classification and a new key was constructed to the genera of the family. This will be a new contribution to the flora of Sudan
