Title: Accounting for the Environment Case Study: Shell Sudan Co. Ltd
Author: Ahmed, Salma Mukhtar
Abstract: Abstract This Study investigates Environmental Accounting practice in Shell Sudan Co.as one of the oldest and greatest oil companies in Sudan, and the first to adopt a clear policy towards environment. The study attempts to document the experience of Shell Sudan in environmental reporting and accounting and compare this experience with the existing literature, taking into consideration the differences in application between developed countries and developing countries. The study found that the environmental accounting and reporting system adopted by Shell Sudan is consistent with Shell Group standards and with the existing Literature. The defect is that finance staff are not involved in the reporting procedures and not well aware about environmental issues.
