Title: The Semantic Implication of Names in The Wedding of Zein

Abstract: Names are pregnant of meanings which diverted the researcher’s attention to their importance and effective role in novel structure sometimes fusing with the theme and plot to form a complete work. On these bases, the researcher analyzed the names in the context of the different novels and narratives by At-Tayeb Salih, in addition to varieties of novels and narratives by different authors. In particular, the researcher focused on Salih’s Novel, the Wedding of Zein attempting a general analysis of the leading characters names’ reflected in The Semantic Triangle which linked these meanings to form a network of meaning. The aim of the analysis is to reveal the hidden beauty of these names and their impact on the story as they acted as hints and clues to readers. Names were also classified and categorized in order to reveal their phonetic and semantic structure. The researcher concluded as follows: 1- Names are important in the field of literature as they contribute meaning to characters and novels. 2- The study shows that choice of names is sometimes deliberate and carefully planned to suit the character and theme of the novel. 3- The study shows that novels reflect cultures and authors views in relation to the world, rendering the reader to connect with the text and not to feel alienated
