Abstract: The city of Eddamer is considered to be one of the oldest Islamic cities in Sudan. It is famous for the Magazeeb family who have been known for their Knowledge and religion .They helped in spreading the Islam and Arabic language and Islamic culture, through building Mosques and Khalwas . Eddamer has been known for its culture and civilization. This is represented in some sites that go back as far as the Neolithic ,post Merwitic and the Christian periods. The city reached the Peak of it prosperity in the Islamic period. It has been clear from this study that Eddamer was built up by the presence of Fakis and Sheikhs ,like many other Sudanese villages and cities e.g(Abu Haraz,Wad al Fadni),but it has been known to be continuously developing until it became a big prosperous and famous city. Because of its unique location , Eddamer has be come a junction for the ancient merchants caravans In addition to that , its fame as religious center, this all together led to make Eddamer an important administrative and commercial center
