Abstract: This study aims at improving pronunciation skills among simply retarded children. The researcher applied quasi-experimental design, i.e. pre- testing and post testing of pronunciation skill was carried out. The population of the study comprises all simply retarded children whose age range between (7 — 15) years in Khartoum province. The sample of the present study consists of (13) male children. Tools of data collection were as follows:- 1. A biography questionnaire of children and their families designed by the researcher. 2. A program for improving pronunciation skills. 3. A test for measuring the fo1lowing abilities and skills:- a. pronouncing Arabic alphabetical letters. b. pronouncing Arabic letters by diacritic symbols. c. Abstracting a letter from a word. d. Associating writing symbol with picture and sound e. Developing attention and concentration skills. f. Telling stories based on pictures. All these tests were used before and after applying the program of developing pronunciation skills among simply retarded children. The data were analyzed by using T- test for paired groups. The most important results of the present study were as follows: ز 1. There is a significant statistical difference in pronunciation Arabic alphabetical letters before and after applying the program which might indicate the efficiency of the program in improving letter pronunciation. 2. There is significant statistical difference in pronouncing Arabic letter by diacritic symbols before and after applying the program which might indicate the efficiency of the program in improving letter pronunciation by diacritic symbols. 3. There is a significant statistical difference in abstracting a letter from a word before and after applying the program which might indicate the efficiency of the program in improving the ability of abstracting a letter from a word. 4. There is significant statistical difference in the ability of associating a writing symbol with a picture and a sound before and after applying the program which might indicate the efficiency of the program in improving this ability. 5 There is a significant statistical difference in improving attention and concentration skills before and after applying the program which might indicate the efficiency of the program in improving attention and concentration skills. 6. There is a significant statistical difference in improving the ability of telling stories based on pictures before and after applying the program which might indicate the efficiency of the program in improving this ability.
