Title: موقف ابن مالك بين البصريين والكوفيين في الابتداء وبعض نواسخه

Abstract: This study is composed of an introduction and four chapters. Each chapter is divided in to number of sections. Chapter one talked about "Ibn Malik" his life in the West and the East "Maghreb and Mashrig" his "sheikhs" (teachers), his students, his knowledge, endeavors and his grammar methods. The thesis deals with Ibn Maliks attitude to wards The schools of Basra and Kufa In the three chapters as follows. Chapter two contained the subject and predicate, and the operator in them, the types of the predicate, the advancement of the predicate over the subject and the numerity and omission of the predicate. Chapter three covered the auxiliary verbs (cana wa akhwatiha). He defined them, showed their number and studied their functions and work. Chapter four dealt with (mā, lā, lāta and its similarities to laysa). The study adopted the historical approach, in relation to the study of the life of Ibn Malik. Then it adopted the descriptive- analytic approach, for the discussion of the various grammar views. The method of the study was that the problem is exposed from its various aspects, then introduced mainly the ideas of the grammarians about it, showing the Basra and kufa, differences, and exposing Ibn Malik , opinion, whether he agrees with either school, or has independent and separate ideas. At times, the researcher intervenes, to show his own opinion. Of the most important fldingings of the study, is that Ibn Malik was insular in dealing with the grammarians, while still respecting their. He was also characterized by his fairness in revewing contradicting Basra kufa grammar issue. His respect for the views of the grammarians, did not stop him from differing with them, if he found that they were not right in what they mentioned. Ibn Malik would strengthens his opinions, with citations from the holy Koran, the sayings of the prophet, and the ancient poetry. Ibn Malik doctrines are characterized by renovation. Its main objective is educational with making things easy for students
