dc.description.abstract Abstract Background: The increasing spread of resistance to insecticides such as DDT and pyrethroids in African malaria vectors is of major concern in the planning and implementation of malaria control operations in many African Countries. Insecticide resistance is a threat to the success of malaria vector control interventions using on insecticides in urban Settings and elsewhere. Objectives: The study aimed to determine the insecticide susceptibility of Anopheles arabiensis and Culex quinquefasciatus to temphosinsecticide in Nyala area, South Darfur State This study served as cross sectional study as cross sectional study. Material&methods: Following WHO standard protocols, susceptibility tests were carried out in Nyala area. A number of twenty five III and early IV instar larvae of anopheles arabiensis and Culex quinquefasciatus larvae were tested separately against temphos ( 0.625 mg/l ,0.0125 and 0.005mg/l) supplied by WHO, along with controls. Results: The study indicated that both Anopheles arabiensis and Culex quinquefasciatus were found resistant to temphos insecticide, according to the WHO Criteria( mortality less than 80%). in Nyala area, South Darfur State. Conclusion recommendations: In conclusion both, An. Arabiensis and Culex quinquefasciatus were found resistant to temphos insecticide in Nyala area, South Darfur State. A holistic malaria control program myinclude the rotation and use of demonstrably effective insecticides, non-chemical control methods as well as treatment and prophylactic prevention of malaria infection. en_US
