Abstract: The Adoption of the process of change became a compulsory activity by the continuity of the organization in a world where all indications point to the fact that it is on the verge of an industrial and technical revolution, which clearly nictitates the redirection of the use of mind to produce change. As much as we need change, we need a leadership capable of stepping out of the customary framework of action and thinking. From this standpoint came the choice of this subject with the title: The leadership and its effect on the strategic change in the Yemeni industrial organizations. The study specified the problem in the existing contradiction between what is imposed by external changes of the Yemeni environment, which necessitates adopting strategy for change and the absence of administrative leadership capable of formulating that strategy and executing it. The study draws its importance from the need of Yemeni industrial organizations to introduce strategic change, and leadership capable of adopting that change. More over it is considered a tool to specify the Yemeni external environment necessary for change. Also to specify the types of administrative leadership in the industrial organizations in the absence of field work related to administrative leadership and introducing change in Yemeni industrial organizations. The study aims at shedding light on a number of basic issues related to administrative leadership and strategic change. The study includes the following four questions: (1) Are the general external environmental changes a cause for the need to adopt a strategy for change in the Yemeni industrial sector? (2) Is there a basic relationship affecting the types of leadership on the effectiveness of leadership in the Yemeni industrial organizations? (3) Is there A basic relationship affecting the types of administrative leadership to move towards strategic thinking in the industrial organizations? (4) What is the type of administrative leadership prevailing in the industrial organizations, and is it possible that it can lead change? This study is based on two elements for collecting the data: a questionnaire, and personal interviews. The analysis of the data is based on SPSS program. The results showed that the system of directing change is scattered far and wide. And that change is basically a matter of leadership. The study also reached the conclusion that the general external environmental changes are a force bushing towards strategic change, and that existing type of leadership is ineffective, and is moving in the opposite direction from strategic thinking, thus it can not lead change. The leadership in the field of administration in the Yemeni industrial sector today is unable and unprepared to embark the change needed and direct it. The recommendations included the following: to gather the scattered of administrative changes and train it as an independent course in the sections of business administration – to put together the administrative frameworks in one unit of administration to be termed The Unit of Change – to adopt a strategy to train effective administrators – to adopt training program to achieve efficiency and learn strategic thinking – to establish a center for organized education in the organization -- establish a center for industrial research
