Abstract: The work presented in this thesis is a physio-ecological comparative study on certain aspects of the biology, growth and propagation of 13 indigenous Acacia species namely, A. albida, A Campylacantha, A. ehrenbergiana. A. farnesiana, A. fistula, A. mellifera, A. nubica. A. raddiana, A. tortilis, A. senegal A.seyal and A. sieberiana in comparison with the performance of some exotic species viz: Conocarpus lancifolius, Eucalyptus camaldulensis, E. microtheca and Sesbania sesban The results of the investigation demonstrated a significant relationship between the seed testa thickness, seed size, pod type seedling size and transpiration of Acacia species and the geographical distribution of these species in Sudan
