Title: Study of Risk Factors of Asthma in Patients Attending At Umbadda Hospital During August and September 2008
Author: Yusuf, Monassar
Abstract: Study about risk factors of asthma risk factors of asthma is done in umbadda hospital in the period from august to September was done and sample was about 100 patient has been taken . We found that 78% are not smoker or has history of smoking, 12% percent mention history of smoking for 1 to 5 years , and 10% mention history of smoking for more than 6 years. Also we found that 44% percent of study sample has a family history of asthma(16% father , 6% mother , 14% brother or sister , 8% aunt uncle). Family hypersensitivity is known as risk factor like that of family asthma, we found same results of 44% of positive results(22% father,4% mother 10%brother or sister 4%aunt or uncle 4% sun or daughter). Another finding we have studied the precipitating factors as may be risk factors in some studies. Dust triggers asthma attack in 86% Cigarette smoke triggers asthma attack in 52% Fume triggers asthma attack in 74% Stress and anxiety triggers asthma attack in 54% Sport triggers asthma attack in 66% And we concluded that asthma has risk factor like family history of asthma and hypersensitivity, also smoking has a risk factor in causing asthma. Many factors can precipitate asthma attack like dust, fume, stress and anxiety We recommend that study should be conducted in genetic engineering and should avoid smoking for their health. Early detection of the disease will improve their prognosis.
