Title: Assessing of the Antimicrobial Activity Of Moringa oliefera Leaf extracts against certain Bacteria and Fungi

Abstract: Moringaoleifera is a tree which is believed to have an antimicrobial effects moringaoleifera extracts were extracted with methanol, aqueous and petroleum ether extracts. Antimicrobial effect of leaf extracts of the plant was investigated against strainsEscherichia coil,Bacillus subtilis, Pseudomonasaeruginosa ,Staphylococcus aureus ,Sallmonellatyphi, Aspergillusniger and Candida albicansby the cup plate method . Different concentrations of methanolic extracts and one concentration of aqueous and petroleum ether extracts were tested. The methanolic extract of Moringaoleiferaleaves inhibited the growth of all species of bacteria and candida albicans in 10% concentration while it had no activity against Aspergillusniger . The aqueous extract inhibited the growth of Escherichia coil , StaphlococcusaureusandSalmonella typhi at 10% concentration , but had no activity against fungi .Petroleum ether extract at 10% concentration was not effective against any of the tested bacteria and fungi. species of bacteria and fungi were also examined by the same methodfor their sensitivity to Gentamcinand Tetracyclineas antibacterial agents and Candizole andLocastin as antifungal agents for comparison and were found to be senstive to the relevant drugsexcept tetracycline which had no activity against Eschericha coli and salmonella typhi .The inhibitory effects of the leaf extracts of M.oleifera on the test bacteria and fungi were compared with those of conventional antibacterial and antifungal drugs .it is concoluded that methanol extract of Moringaoleifera leaves has remarkable antibacterial and antifungal activity against the testedorganisms
