Title: Hydro-Thermal Generation Scheduling

Abstract: This thesis discusses or studies the hydro-thermal systems, and the methods of operating for hydro units and thermal units when they fed a system with a minimum cost satisfying the demand. The base cost of thermal generation was a fuel cost labor, maintenance, and startup or shutdown costs. The economic dispatch between the units represented by its incremental fuel rate method which it follow in the rate of incremental fuel cost gradually till feeding the load but incremental method in load distribution between units it depend on equalization. The abstract of this study represented by load, forecasting can be divided into two categories long and short term. Long covered a period of a 1week to 1 year is required for preparing maintenance schedules for generating units. Short term forecasting (which discussed in this thesis) needed for a day-to-day operation covering a day or a week in order to commit enough generation capacity for meeting the forecasted demand. The hydro-generation depends basically on the water storage, water inflow and water discharge. The Hydrothermal Coordination must also consider the technical and operational constraints of the units, A methodology to solve the problem of Short Term Hydrothermal Coordination (very complicated mathematically when many constraints is used, must using programming) considering the transmission system losses is developed. The project take a small hydrothermal system, then makes a simulation to find the hydro and thermal power at the most possible minimum cost.
