Title: Virtual laboratory The future for quality on line Engineering Education
Author: Galal El-din, Mai Safi El-din
Abstract: In electrical engineering, laboratory experience is an integral part of the educational process. Because of the fast growth in electrical and electronics equipment, these equipment become obsolete quickly. Upgrading such equipment is often limited due to economic factors. As a result, the possibility of experimental training for all the students is extremely reduced. With the rapid progress of Internet technology and its increasing popularity, there exists now an international effort concerning the use of Internet for performing virtual experimentation. Virtual laboratories allow students to simulate experiments that may require expensive or dangerous hardware and materials from the safety of their PC. Virtual lab systems are a fairly recent technology and a new paradigm .Indeed, virtual lab field is considered one of the active fields for both research and commercial development. The Objective of this project is to design and implement Digital virtual lab. A key feature of the project is the use of Simulation (using Java as a programming language) and HTTP protocol to implement the lab. The implemented lab has a friendly, easy to use graphical user interface. It provides access to Digital experiments. Students can effectively use the laboratory at any time and from anywhere. The virtual laboratory can be accessed at the web site www.divlab.50megs.com.
