Title: Physical and Chemical Characteristics and Yield Components of "Barakawi" and "Gondeila" Dry Dates

Abstract: Physical and chemical characteristics' and yield components of Barakawi and Gondei1a dates at "Tamr" stage were studied. Significantly greater numbers of bunches per tree, strands per bunch and fruits per bun<ih and higher yield' were shown by Barak:a~i compared to Gondeila. The Gondeila date cultivar had significantly higher values of physical characteristics in terms of fruit weight, pulp Q weight and fruit' width than the Barakawi, Gondeila dates had significantly higher values of total sugar!;, sucrose, total p~otein and sodium content than Barakawi, which had significantly higher values of moisture content, reducing sugars, potassium content and total phenolic copmounds than Gondeila.
