Title: The Evaluation of the Suspending Ability of the Guar Gum in Comparison with Xanthan Gum using Metronidazole Benzoate as Model Drug
Author: awadalla, Sami Mohamed; Shayoub, Mohammed E. A.
Abstract: Guar gum is a plant polysaccharide, Galactomannan, which produces viscous suspension at lower concentrations and easily hydrates in cold water. The main advantages for using Guar gum are its low cost, non-toxic and easy availability as being a natural and local product in Sudan. The aim of this study was to evaluate the suspending ability of the Guar gum to be used as an al¬ternative for the formulation of pharmaceutical suspensions, and evaluate its tolerance to time and temperatures in comparison with Xanthan gum
