Title: Convective Cloud Cover and Cloud Water Content over Central Sudan

Abstract: A simple Numerical weather prediction model has been applied to determine and forecast the convective cloud water and cloud cover over central Sudan. A regular closed grid point structure (2.5°× 2.5° ) was used to define the domain of the study on the grid point [13.75°N-16.25°N and 31.25°E-33.75°E ], this grid point includes Khartoum state. The model includes three types of convective clouds (low, medium and high) in August 2013. MATLAB software program codes have been constructed to calculate the initial and forecast values for the convective cloud cover and cloud water content. The comparison between low and medium cloud water content with actual accumulated rainfall found that the medium cloud water content performed better than the low cloud water content. The model output shows that the cloud cover forecast better than the cloud water content for low and medium cloud.
