Title: Enhancement of Packet Security in Satellite Communication

Abstract: The purpose of this study is to solve the man in the middle attack at the VSAT star topology in the main hub site. This study is provide cryptography protocol that is called MIP. It’s has been developed from the Interlock Protocol. This study took into account the propagation delay that is generated by satellite geostationary orbit which is impact to the network performance in VSAT. Its present a transport layer solution. TCP is flexible to work in many environment but unfortunately it has been used without consideration of the confidentiality for the different networks. In this study the TCP has been readjustment to reach the optimum throughput after using the MIP protocol. An OPNET simulation has been used to modify the TCP Slow Start Initial Count, Received Window Size, Fast Retransmission, Fast Recovery, Initial Retransmission Timeout (RTO), Window Scaling Option and Selective ACK (SACK) The result is increasing of the throughput up to 30%.
