dc.description.abstract In this research bis(acetylacetone)ethylenediamine [H2L1] (acacen) was prepared by condensation of actylacetone and etheynediamine in a (2:1) molar ratio. 2, 4-pentadionedioxime [H2L2] was formed instead of (acetylacetone)ethylenedaimine dioxime from condensation of (acetylacetone)ethylenediamine and hydroxylamine hydrochloride (1:2) molar ratio, due to hydrolysis of bis(acetylacetone) ethylinediamine) in acidic medium. The two ligands and complexes were prepared and characterized using elemental analysis, 1H, 13C COSY and DEPT NMR, IR spectroscopy, MS spectroscopy and x-ray diffraction. All complexes with 2,4-pentanedione dioxime were mononuclear except that of Cu(II) which is dinuclear. Molecular formulas of the complexes are [Cu2(HL2)(CH3COO)2], [Ni(H2L2)(NO3)2], [Pd(H2L2)(Cl2)], [Co(HL2)(H2O)4] and [VO(L2)(H2O)]. Antibacterial activity results; against four bacteria species Escherichia coli ,pseudpmonas aeruginase, Bacillus subtilis and Staphylococcus aureus and two fungi species Candida albicans , Aspergillus niger showed that all the synthesized compounds possess antimicrobial activity. acacen free ligand specially against Staphylococcus aureus bacteria and Aspergillus niger fungai Oxime ligand and its complexes have no considerable difference in antimicrobial activity, , free ligand show higher ctivity against, Staphylococcus aureus , Co(II) show high activity compared with other complexes and have significant higher activity against Aspergillus niger .Cu(II) complex has higher activity against Candida albicans. Antioxidant activity results showed that the activities order is VO(II) > Ni(II) > Pd(II) > Cu(II) > Co(II) complexes. The activity of Cu(II) and Co(II) are lower than that of the free ligands. en_US
