Title: Design and Development of Rule-Based System for Noise Pollution in Recreational Area

Abstract: The Rule-Based System (RBS) designed, developed and discussed in this paper integrated the qualitative analysis and quantitative aspects of NP in recreational areas. It is designed to assist in identib,ing noise causes, levels, effects, area quality index related to noise and suggest probable mitigation measures. Knowledge used in this system was elicited from the textual sources. C language Integrated Production System (CLIPS) was the tool used to develop the system. Guidelines on validation of experts systems and RBS given in the literature could be used on validation of _RBS_ Results showed that the system is able to identify noise causes, levels and potential impacts_ It is also heuristically make recommendations on noise problem using certainly factor and fuzzy logic techniques.
