Title: Fabrication of Zinc Oxide Nano-sensor and its Utilization as a pH Meter

Abstract: Zinc oxide (ZnO) is a wide band gap (Eg =3.4 eV at room temperature) semiconductor; it has a stable wurtzite structure that has attracted intensive research interest recently due to its versatile applications. In this research we aim to develop a potentiometric sensor based on ZnO nanostructures that is grown on a thin silver wire, Zinc Oxide nanorods were grown at low temperature via the aqueous chemical growth method. Characterization done by Scanning electron microscope, Ultra-Violet and Infrared spectroscopy showed that the growth of Zinc Oxide nanorods was successful and on the expected hexagonal wurtzite structure. When used as a working electrode for a potentiometric nano-sensor pH meter the fabricated sensor displayed reliable & repeatable measurements with linearity factor of [+0.835] and had a working rang of [4-11 pH].
