Abstract: This research dealt with Sudanese-Chadian relations، through geographical/ historical common denominator of political، economic and social dimensions، the approach was consistent with the changes that happened in the relations from 1990- 2010. The research problem was that the Sudan has with Chad in the longest political boundaries، after its borders with Ethiopia; this led to tribal overlap making profound social impact on the security situation between the two countries، due to frequent conflicts and the emergence of armed opposition movements for each of the two countries. The importance of this research lies in that each of the two countries constitute a strategic dimension for the other، and security and stability were the hallmark between the two countries، however، recent decades have seen frequent tension and conflict، because of displacement asylum and tribal overlapping resulted in of many variables. The research aimed to find out the reasons that intercepted the progress and development، of the relationship during the time، limited by the research. The research adopted historical methodology to keep track of events in the relationship between the two countries and to show the most important facts، and also the research adopted the descriptive methodology، as well as the analytical methodology، data has been collected and information for the research from primary and secondary resources. One of the most important findings of the research that; the relations between the two countries were affected by the negative impact of several factors، such as the absence of the strategic vision and maintaining the tactical and temporal thinking and the hegemony of the mentality of security and control over the management of relations between the two files ، this created an atmosphere of tension and hostility، lack of demarcation of political boundaries between the two countries، political orientations of ruling systems in each country، internal conflict and opposition movements in each country، the tribal and ethnic factor extension and overlapping gave a clear political dimension in the tribal conflicts، which led to the outbreak of the war in Darfur، and the intervention of Chad on the problem and the worsening of situation after rebel movements، intervention of UN forces and imposing economic sanctions on Sudan and including it in the list of states sponsors of terrorism. The research recommended the need to resolve the internal political problems in both Sudan and Chad، and to ward off the dangers of foreign intervention، it also recommended the importance of a joint mechanism، for instant solution of any tribal conflict in the border region، with the importance of benefiting from reality of overlapping tribal ،in the development of border areas through economic integration programs and common sharing of the benefits.
