Abstract: The aim of this research was to use process steam in powering an absorption air conditioning system to cater for part of the cooling load in phase three of Dr. Mahmoud Sharif power station.Dr. Mahmoud Sharif power station consumes 12MW per day for air conditioning in switch gear room and offices. This energy consumption in air conditioning must be reduced so as to reduceoperation cost. The research included estimation of cooling load and energy consumption for one unit of compression air conditioning system in Phase Three station. It also includedstudying conditions of process steam and cooling water, and calculation of the consumption and cost of steam and electrical energy for three samples of LiBr-Water absorption system(Carrier 16JL-Shaungling 165H2-Thermax A180). Then comparisonof the cost of compression and absorption cooling systems was conducted.The introduction of the absorption cooling system in running the whole air conditioning system in the Phase Three station is expected to save 4.756MW of electrical energy and 8434SDG per day for one unit
