Abstract: Colostrums is a viscous mammary secretion during the first 3 days of lactation it provide all the essential components of nutrition and passive immunity required by the newborn calf. It is characterized by a lemon –yellow colour and contains high quality protein ,fat, essential minerals, vitamins and electrolytes .The unique character of colostrums is the high concentration of secretary Ig A antibodies which confer local gastrointestinal immunity to the new natal calves(Smith,2002).
