Abstract: The study aimed to assess the self-employment practice of the graduates from the Faculty of Agriculture, University of Khartoum, between 1994 and 2011, with focus on the socio-economic characteristics of the respondents and the nature of the self-employment practice. The study is a descriptive and based on a survey, using a questionnaire to collect primary data from a sample of 60 self-employed graduates selected through the snowball sampling method. The secondary data were collected from textbooks, journals, reports, and from the internet. The collected primary data were analyzed using the Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS). The results are presented in tables of frequently distribution and percentages. The main results reflected the following:-  The majority of the respondents (78.3%) are males with between 25 and 45 years old which the range of the youth age is.  Half of the respondents (50%) preferred working in agricultural in both the plant and the livestock sectors.  The majority of the respondents (60%) complain about the lack of finance although most of them are self-financing.  One third of the respondents (33.3%) wanted to stay in self-employment all their life. Fifty percent (50%), however, will change only if they found suitable and / or more rewarding jobs. Based on the results the researcher recommended:  The agricultural graduates should not wait for employment by salary and should take rewarding self-employment jobs preferably in the agricultural sector, if available, or any other gainful jobs instead of selling idle.  The government should assist the graduates of agriculture by facilitating finance for self-employment through Agricultural Bank, Animal Resources Bank and Farmer Bank. * The local authorities should reduce the taxes and licenses fees and other charges levied on the self-employment activates. * The Agricultural graduates Union and the Agricultural council should encourage the graduates from the agricultural colleges to enter self-employment.
