Abstract: This study aimed at identifying the extent to which the 4th level benefit from the courses of technical manipulation in departments of library and information; the extent to which they meet the needs of labor market and identifying the extent of the student’s ability to perform technical processes inside the library and link the practical aspects with the theoretical. The most important hypotheses, there is a statistically significant relationship between the concentration of departments on theoretical aspect compared with the practical aspect; inadequate credit hours of the courses of technical manipulation in department of library and information in Sudanese universities; the availability of work tool used in teaching the courses of technical manipulation positively affects qualification of graduates. The researcher, in this study, depended on the application of the analytical descriptive and (survey). Data were collected through questionnaire distributed to a sample of 300 students from the 4th grade. Obtained data were processed using the Statistical Packages for Social Sciences (SPSS). The study arrived at a number of results the most important of which are: the theoretical aspect overcomes the applied or practical aspect in the courses of technical manipulation at the studied departments; the departments do not provide adequate number of bibliographic control tools; most students suffer from difficulties in using bibliographic control tools; there is no balance and appropriateness between the bibliographic control tools and the studied departments and the number of students. The researcher recommended specifying a whole semester for the practical application in the library which needs students to devote themselves for the practical aspect; the department balance should be between the practical aspect and theoretical aspect of the course of technical manipulation; the necessity of departments’ commitment to adequate practical application for the students of the courses of technical manipulation; practical training for all the courses of technical manipulation during the study of the concerned course in order for the studentto link the theoretical aspect with the practical aspect.
