Abstract: This study was carried out to determine the incidence of Pseudomonas spp. in the environment of dairy farms in Sharq-Alneel locality at Khartoum State and determine the sensitivity of isolates to various antibiotics. A total of 200 random samples were collected from 40 farms in different areas at Sharq-Alneel locality December 2014 to February 2015. Five swab samples were collected from each farm by swabbing as follows: single swabs were collected from all inner surfaces and angles of one animal drinker and one feeder, swabbing on one fresh animal faeces and around nozzle of water faucet was made, also one swab was collected from one milk can from the entire inner surface and cover. Pseudomonas aeruginosa was isolated from animal drinker and Pseudomonas pseudoalcaligenes was isolated from animal feeder and a water faucet; no Pseudomonas spp. were isolated from feces and milk cans. Sensitivity to antibiotics was conducted on the bacterial isolates; P. aeruginosa was resistant to penicillin and tetracycline, whereas P. pseudoalcaligenes was intermediately sensitive to penicillin. This study showed the incidence of Pseudomonas spp. in the environment of dairy farms in Sharq-Alneel locality was low frequency (2%); this may be attributed to the good hygiene in these farms, feeders and milk cans were exposed to direct sun light after cleaning and allowed to dry environment; these factors reduce levels of contamination.
