Abstract: In this study the Researchers kinetically investigated the coupling reaction between tranexamic acid (TA) and 2,6-dichloroquinone-4-chlorimide (DCQ). The Researchers measured the increase in absorbance of the resultant greenish-brown colored complex (λmax = 670 nm) as a function of time at room temperature. The Researchers adopted four kinetic methods to construct the calibration curves and selected the fixed time method as the best method with regards to the correlation coefficient (R = 0.996). The Researchers then pursued to non-kinetically fixed time method in order to overcome the lengthy time and low sensitivity of the aforementioned method by heating the reaction mixture at 100°C for three minutes. The limit of detection (LOD) and the limit of quantification (LOQ) for the non-kinetic method were 24.01 and 80.04 µg/ml, respectively. Statistical analysis of the results revealed no significant difference between the adopted British Pharmacopeia (2002) (titrimetric) method and the in-house non-kinetic fixed time (colorimetric) method in terms of accuracy and precision.
