Title: Solar Energy Demand in Rural Areas of Sudan

Abstract: This study aimed to estimate the demand of solar energy in rural area of Sudan by using standalone PV system. The numbers of villages are counted in different states, they are classified as large and small villages according to their house number. The household are also classified to small, medium and large. The demand are estimated by using standalone PV system for each household, (small=546.9 Wh/day, medium= 1141.8 Wh/day, large=1617.6 Wh/day). Beside household the demand for service centers was estimated (mosque=2650 Wh/day, health center= 10730 Wh/day, elementary school=7528 Wh/day, secondary school= 6320 Wh/day, police center=440 Wh/day, church=1696 Wh/day) using the model of Ministry of Electricity, Irrigation and Water Resources, sudan. The total solar demand for all villages is estimated to be = 4.653 GWh/day. The study recommends scientific research on solar energy and demand side analysis and Work on production of photovoltaic cells in the Sudan instead of importing solar cells.
