Abstract: This research deals with the Sudanese Ethiopian border conflict on the Fashaga area and its impact on economic and social relations between the two countries in addition to the security conditions and instability in the region involved in the dispute. This is considering the regional and international influence in the Horn of Africa and its impact on the conflict. The research aims to find out the reasons behind the origins and evolution of this conflict. The research has adopted a historical descriptive approach to analyze the data. Both secondary data and primary are used in the research; the latter were collected from field trips carried out by the researcher to investigate the area on the ground and conduct individual and group interviews, including officials and popular destinations. The research found that the dispute on the Fashaga area was not new. The conflict on the area goes back to the colonial period by drawing border without consideration of the natural and ethnographic aspects between the two countries. The effect of environmental degradation and climate change and limited land in Ethiopia pushed the Ethiopians into the Sudanese territory, encouraged by short distance and the weakness of border control in the Sudanese side. The research recommends the need for a border study unit to deal with border the necessity of speeding up the border demarcation between the two countries. This is in addition to supporting business networking among the inhabitants of the border areas and intensifying security presence to protect Sudanese sovereignty.
