Title: Socio- economic Impact of Western Sudan Resources Management Programme on Fishermen in ElRahad locality/North Kordofan

Abstract: This study was conducted to assess Socio economic impact of Western Sudan resources management Programme on Elrrahad locality fishermen (WSRMP) in 2014. From the entire population of Elrrahad locality, (150) respondents (116 fishermen and 34 fish traders) were selected to conduct this study. All fishermen beneficiaries from Western Sudan Resources Management Programme in Elrrahad. Data collection involved Primary data through field survey and questionnaire. Secondary data from books, publication, internet, report, besides other available data resources. The researcher will design two questionnaires: (one to fishermen and other to fish traders) Data analysis used simple descriptive statistical Techniques for the analysis of the collected data applying the statistical package for social sciences SPSS (Descriptive statistics, mainly frequency and percentages) and testing the hypotheses by using Chi-Square and T- Test . The results showed that the Data analysis revealed that fishermen and fish traders' income increase after WSRMP intervention, Fish species and quantity increase and so, the numbers of Fishermen and fish traders have increased, and were trained and organized. Emerged fish and lack of extension services, refrigerators and shortage of fish shops are main problem effected on fish production and marketing. From the findings, set recommendation for strengthening the Rahad Turda Rehabilitation Project which conducted by WSRMP was generated .Decreasing the quantity emerged fish to improve fish production. Stop over fishing, conduct new fish aquaculture, providing refrigerators and increase fish shops, training fishermen and fish traders and enforcement of extension services.
