Abstract: This Study aims to identify the risksin agricultural financing by the Agricultural Bankand how to manage them during the period (2007-2014). The research hypotheses are that, there isan inverse relationship, betweencredit to agricultural sector and its risk; proportional relationship between the volume of finance given by the banking system and repayment rate; there is a proportional relationship between concentrating on a specific mode of financing agricultural activities and repayment rate; and proportional relationship between proper application of Basel Committee and Council of Islamic Services standards and reduction in financial risk. A descriptive and analytical approach is used in this work. The research outcomes showed that the bank financing directed to agricultural sector is low due to its high risk, and the repayment rate to the bank continually increases. However, the Agricultural Bank of Sudan has low repayment ratein comparison with the increase in financing given to the agricultural sector. There is a concentration on"Murabaha" , which constitutes the highest ratio of total finance balance. Proper application of Basel Committee and Council of Islamic Financial Services standards resulted in reduction of financing risk in the banking system due to increase in capital adequacy ratio and financing allocations to bogging debts. The study recommends that it is necessary to finance farmers within enough time before agricultural season and diversifying financial portfolio and not to concentrate on one formula in the process of bank financing. The study also recommendsgiving due concern to performance and bank measurement’s standards followed internationally in identifying risk volumes, and increasing efforts to increase repayment rate.
