Title: Design and Implementation of a Mine Sweeping Machine

Abstract: Current methods of landmines detection and clearance are proved to be time consuming, expensive and dangerous. In order to solve the problem a light weight, low cost semi-autonomous mine detecting robot was implemented. The mine detecting robot is capable of detecting metallic landmines at a maximum range of detection equals to 7cm. A metal detector was implemented and mounted on a semi-autonomous car to maximize the speed of the detection process and to minimize the risks imposed by the intervention of the human operator. A central controller that controls both the metal detection system and the semi-autonomous robotic vehicle was not implemented.
