Abstract: There are many types of photovoltaic systems one of them is the grid connected PV system as continuous supply without battery. Such system is fully functional when the grid is on. However, when the grid is off, the PV system loses its main function and goes down. In Sudan, the national grid has a problem of several cutoffs, which is most essential problem in any generation industry. This project deals with grid connected solar system proposed to be installed in the EN21&EN26 halls by designing a grid tied circuit that can be suitable when blackout. It concern with Modeling and simulation of an interface between PV array and utility grid, and implementation of island PV power plant as standby when blackout. The whole system was modeled and simulated using E-TAP software. The designed circuit is suitable to switch the source from the grid to the U.P.S through the A.T.S to make the U.P.S the main source that provide the Grid tie inverter with reasonable output properties to feed the load when grid outage. The simulation results showed that the system succeeded in extracting the maximum power, feeding it to the load, what makes the consumed watt per hour for consumer is reduced. And during black out the load is sufficiently supplied.
