dc.description.abstract The demand of Electricity is increasing day by day while the sources of fossil fuels are coming to an end, and the environment is extremely affected by the waste of energy generation and consumption. It is required to rely on more ecofriendly and sustainable ways of energy generation. Renewable energy has many challenges, one of them is storing electricity from a renewable source such as solar or wind to be used when it is not available. This thesis suggests an optimization n mechanism for energy storage in a grid-connected photovoltaic system to increase efficiency and reduce the cost of power consumption, by minimizing the power drawn from the national grid and storing all the excess power generated by the PVs during the day. The solution suggested is implemented using Agent Based programming which is more reliable than the normal control mechanisms The software used were MATLAB for designing the Micro Grid (MG) model after doing the required calculations for the Photovoltaic (PV) arrays and Electricity storage. To create the agent a software called (JADE) was used and the two softwares were connected using TCP/IP communication. This thesis opens the door for more development and further expansion in the automated system by creating more agents to control other parts of the power system, on the way to achieve fully automated systems. en_US
