Title: Electrical Losses Studies in National Grid

Abstract: In recent years, electric power demand has increased drastically due to superiority of electric energy to all other forms of energy and the expansion of power generation and transmission has been severely limited sequel to limited resources, environmental restrictions and lack of privatization as can be found in the developing countries of the world like Nigeria, Togo, India, etc. No matter how the power system is designed, losses are unavoidable and must be modeled before accurate representation can be calculated. This project focuses on the technical and non-technical losses that occur in electric power system. A case study for technical losses was applied on the IEEE 14-buses using (ETAP) software which used Newton-Raphson method to solve load flow equations. Also the mechanism that used to reduce the technical and non-technical losses was implemented and discussed briefly.
