Abstract: In terms of economic, investment deemed as one of the most significant macro indicators, since the same plays a significant role in pushing forward the wheel of economic growth by increasing the productivity and building the capacities, through the optimum and efficient use of economic resources. The research aims to investigate the effect of macroeconomic variables specifically, the domestic investment on the foreign direct investment during the period from (1976 to 2013). The research also aims to analyze and evaluate the economic climate in the Sudan. The research on the other hand, adopted the quantitative analytical approach using the co-integration method to effect the employment of the autoregressive distributed lag model(ARDL). The research also used relevant data from the official website of the World Bank as well as from other websites, in addition to a set of books, reports and scientific research papers, as secondary data sources. The research findings have shown that the growth rate of GDP has a positive significant effect on the FDI in both short and long terms. The research findings have proved that exports indicate a negative position that is statistically significant in the short term. This is however, due to the severe competition of the petroleum exports in the face of the other sectors of exports. This is indeed bedsides the effect of government restrictions imposed upon external trade. Domestic investment, government expenditure, exports and the rate of inflation, on the other hand, have a poor effect on the FDI in the long term. Sudan is a country that possesses attractive fundamentals for the various types of investments. Multiplicity of the bodies responsible for the management of the investment process, and the frequent amendments to investment laws, lead to the lack of the confidence of the investors in the bodies concerned with the organization of the investment in the Sudan. The research most significant recommendations besides, having more attention to the macroeconomic indicators, is to create a favorable climate of investment by improving the economic infrastructure in order to attract more foreign investments. The research recommended simplifying the administrative procedures, Which impede the entry of the foreign investments. The research finally recommended facilitating the process of transferring the profits and interests of foreign investments to the original countries.
