Title: Ferro Cement as a Low Cost Solution in Buildings

Abstract: This study aims to show the feasibility of using ferrocement as a precast roof/floor system. The study mainly based on experimentation. Ferrocement is simply a combination of cement/sand mortar having a compressive strength higher than 35 N/mm2 and chicken wire mesh, can be utilized in any form and shape. Three floor panels each consists of a 20 mm slab of 0.78 m width and 4.6 m length supported by two rips along the long sides of 125 mm depth and 50 mm width, reinforced by one bar at top and bottom, cast with c/s (1:2.5) mortar were prepared. The panel was tested using 50 kg cement bags as a uniform distributed load. The tests results show that the panels have enough flexural strength and can be used as a roof/floor system within the allowable service deflection limits
