Abstract: The study aimed at identifying the socio-economic damages caused by disputes in South Sudan and Darfur, the consequence of widening dispute scope and threat to international peace and security as well as the role of the United Nation in dissolution of dispute and achieving international peace and security through peaceful methods and maintaining peace. The study also aimed at clarifying the reasons for the intervention of the United Nations in support of peace in South Sudan and Darfur in order to compare between the role of the United Nations in Darfur and South Sudan and assess the processes of peacekeeping and the methods, mechanisms and strategies followed. Moreover, the study aimed at explaining the efforts of the government of Sudan and regional organizations in dealing with United Nations forces and institutions. The research adopted both the historical approach as the dispute in Sudan in associated with the past and the descriptive analytical approach to describe the nature of the processes of supporting peace and descriptive in Sudan and their mechanisms with a view to analyzing information. The study also utilized the comparative approach to examine both cases of South Sudan and Darfur. The study relied on several sources such as United Nations documents and report on Darfur and South Sudan as well as no secondary sources such as books, magazines and the internet. The study has reached many findings including that the conflict has had various impacts and damages on the human and development sides, the infrastructure, violation of human rights, shortage of social services and ethnic cleansing issues. The United Nations is trying to tackle and identify the causes of dispute through peaceful methods in order to remove them. Sudan people Liberation Movement asked the United Nations to intervene using its good endeavors to protect civilians and children against war, provide the political support and protect property and provide security. The regional organizations have positive role in the field of human rights in Darfur. These organization focused on ethnic cleansing and cessation of hostilities. Moreover, the United Nations focused on cracking down on the government through international organizations in order to stop violence and random attacks against civilians, but the government of Sudan did not give it more powers. The study recommended the need for trust and conducive atmosphere for the negotiations and intervention to dissolute the dispute via reconstruction, rehabilitation, disarmament and sustainable peace as well as development of joint strategies between the government and international community with a view to start restoring trust through a comprehensive national process.
