Title: الاكتئاب لدى المتقاعدين عن العمل بمحلية الخرطوم

Abstract: This research aims to investigate depression and some other demographic variables: gender, type of retirement, number of years of retirement, and age, among retirees from work at Khartoum locality. The researcher adopts the descriptive method to achieve this objective. Purposive sampling method was applied to select a sample of (157) retired, (87) males, (80) female. The researcher used the following scale to collect the data of the present research Beck scale for depression designed by Aaron T. Beck (1993). Statistical Package for social sciences was applied to analyze the data of this research by using T-test for one sample, T-test for two samples, Spearman correlation coefficients, and One Way Analysis of Variance (ANOVA). The results of the study are as follows; depression is statistically significant low among retirees from work at Khartoum locality at level of significant (0.05), there is no statistically significant difference in depression among them according to gender at level of significant (0.05), there is no statistically significant difference in depression among them according to type of retirement at level of significant (0.05), there is statistically significant negative correlation between depression and number of years of retirement among them at level of significant (0.05), there is no statistically significant difference in depression among them according to age at level of significant (0.05). Finally; the researcher suggested some recommendations such as design programs that help retirees from work to adjust with the retirement
