Title: Vendors’ Profile of Raw Fresh Milk Marketing in Khartoum State

Abstract: This research aimed to study the Vendors’ profile of marketing raw fresh milk in Khartoum state. The study was performed during the period 2016-2017.The research was based on primary data collected via a cross sectional scientifically structured questionnaire based on Likert scale from vendors at two levels pick-up sellers and donkey-cart sellers, the sample included 90 vendors ; 30 in each locality of Khartoum state. Data was analyzed using the computerized Statistical Package for Social Sciences SPSS (ver., 11.5). The results showed that 82.2% of the vendors considered milk selling profession as their main source of income; 76.7% of the vendors did not purchase milk from specific farms; 68.9% of the vendors delivered milk to the end consumer in their home; 87.8% of the vendors practiced milk straining, 58.9% of the vendors set their price according to prevailing market price, 77.8% of the vendors don’t practice milk cooling treatment and 74.4% of the vendors stated that peak time for milk selling was in the evening time. The research recommended establishing an organized integration of Vendors (donkey-cart and pick-up sellers) in the marketing system of raw milk; establishing scientific modernized marketing system that combines formal and informal marketing system; establishing a quality control system; establishing highly equipped collection centers that could aid producers in selling their milk in a profitable organized manner and crafting extension service programs that address vendors.
