Author: مدني, امتثال عمر أحمد
Abstract: The study aimed at identifying the effectiveness of treatment by narrative exposure in alleviating after-trauma stress disorder among those who returned from war battles and received treatment at the military hospital in Omdurman and its relationship with some variables (age, educational level and social status). To achieve the objectives of the study, the researcher has pursued the semi experimental approach. The study sample is comprised of five patients out of a total of 79 patients who were selected through purposive sample. The researcher employed the after-trauma stress disorder scale prepared by Mujahid Mustafa (2008). The narrative exposure therapy was applied to the respondents, with the therapeutic program containing (40) therapeutic sessions. The study data were statistically analyzed using the following statistic methods: Alvakronbach equation, Spearman correlation coefficient, Pearson correlation coefficient, Manotani test and Wilcoxon test. The statistical processing methods have led to the following conclusions: treatment by narrative exposure reduces the after-trauma stress disorder symptoms among those who returned from wars and patronized the Military Hospital in Omdurman at a level of significance (0.043) in the trauma dimension, and avoidance dimension at significance (0.043) and in the arousal dimension (0.043), there is no significant correlation relationship between the effectiveness of narrative exposure in reducing the after-trauma stress disorder and the age at a level of significance of the trauma dimension (0.467) and avoidance dimension (0.019) and arousal dimension (0.271). there is no significant correlation relationship between the effectiveness of narrative exposure in reducing the after-trauma stress disorder and the educational level at level of significance in the trauma dimension(0.0446) and avoidance dimension (0.126) and arousal dimension (0.482), and there are no significant differences in the effectiveness of narrative exposure in reducing the after –trauma stress disorder depending on social status at level of significance in the trauma dimension (0.767) and in the avoidance dimension (0.083) and in the arousal dimension (0.543), At the end of the study, the researcher presented a set of recommendations emphasizing the importance of taking advantage of the features of the narrative exposure therapy in reducing the various mental disorders and its application to different samples of patients.
