Title: Utilization of Guar Hulls as Adsorbent Material for Removal of Cr (VI) from Potassium Chromate Solution

Abstract: The objective of this research is to remove Chromium (Cr (VI)) from solution of Potassium Chromate (K2CrO4) added for tannery process. This remove is suggested to use Guar hulls which normally considered as waste. Three factors influence of adsorption: adsorbent dose, contact time and pH. Guar hulls are powdered and are used in removal of Chromium (VI) from the solution under study. It is found that Guar hull is effective to remove Chromium (VI) from the solution. When using untreated Guar hull at the dosage of adsorbent 0.8g per 100 mg/l stock solution of Potassium Chromate (K2CrO4), 120 minutes contact time, and pH 2, then 59.7% of Cr (VI) was removed. The removal was 79% when using treated Guar hull at the dosage of adsorbent 0.8g per 100 mg/l stock solution of Potassium Chromate (K2CrO4), 90 minutes of contact time, and pH 2.that results use of treated Guar hulls is more effective than untreated Guar hulls. It is recommended that the future studies to consider the other factors concerning the efficiency of adsorption which are temperature and concentration.
