Title: من تاريخ الزمن موجزاً ستيفن هوكينغ
Author: ., عمر إبراهيم عيد
Abstract: The book "A Brief History of Time" written by Stephen Hawking and published by Bantam Publishing House in New York in 1998, the book is of dimensions 6x0.6x9 inch. I have translated 54 pages from a total of 212 pages. The book contains twelve chapters, I have translated the first three of them. It is one of the most important scientific books aimed at simplifying science for non-specialists, the success of the book indicates that there is widespread interest in the big questions like: Where did we come from? And why is the universe the way it is? The most important point: that the universe is governed by a set of rational laws that we can discover and understand. The book has been on the bestseller list for 273 weeks, it won great popularity and translated into more than forty languages, including Arabic language. There are many reasons that pushed me to retranslate this book, of course one of them is due to its importance, and because of this, my purpose is to explain the terms of the Physics in a simpler way to ensure that all readers will fully understand them. In translating this book, I have followed the method of translating the meaning. I also, faced with some difficulty in picking the most suitable translation of the scientific terms, as you find different Arabic translations for the same term. For example, you find that the word "gravity" has been translated into Arabic as "جاذبية" and "ثقالة", the common is "جاذبية" but the most correct is "ثقالة". We hope that those interested in the translation will work to unify the scientific term.
