Title: Reliability Analysis Model of the Agricultural Tractors under Irrigated Farming System (Rahad Scheme – Sudan)

Abstract: Abstract: Agricultural tractor is one of the most important energy and power sources in crops production; it can be used economically for many years. Tractor reliability time is an important factor in farm machinery management. The objective of the present study was to develop a computer model to determine reliability and time to failure of the agricultural tractor. The model was designed to formulate a decision support system which will assist farmers in taking decision regarding reliability of the agricultural tractor. Data on 411tractors of one make were obtained through a structured questionnaire in Rahad Scheme. Data collected were mainly concentrated on time to failure of tractors in the period from 2004 to 2014. The model was developed by the use of MS Excel 2007 and Visual Basic (Version 6). Result showed that the cumulative failure probability distribution was equal to 0 at t (time) = 0. The cumulative failure probability distribution approaches 1.0 as time approaches infinity. The data were fit to a probability mass density to be expressed as a function of time. The survival function was found to be equal to 1.0 at t (time) equal to 0. The survival function approaches 0 as time approaches infinity. The indefi¬nite integral of the survival function was found to be equal to the mean time to failures for more than 90% of the tractor under the study. Verification and validation of the developed model showed its capital to accommodate any change of input data. The model succeeded to describe the behavior of the failure mode of the studied tractors over time. This program can be sponsored by the companies specified on this field, to be used in all workshops and farms in Sudan.
