Abstract: The Dinder National Park is the only area out of seven chosen by the ETMA/IES project to study indicators of change, that has received some sort of protection of habitats. It is the largest national park in the country and the oldest in northern Sudan. Like many parts of Sudan it has increasingly been subjected to pressures from human activities. The report consisted of three parts; part one described the park and general movement of wildlife, part two focused on general land use and encroachment of unplanned mechanized crop production. Part three was described as intervention phase where maya'as water catchment by improving the slope of saggayat water flow, blocking draining khors and excavation.
