Author: El Khalifa, Mamoun D.; Desougi, Lutfi Abdel Gadir; Sinada, Faisal; Institute of Environmental Studies
Abstract: The present report described the scope, nature and the results of the research carried out on the Nile system within Sudan. Information reviewed included previously unpublished data, materials contained in accepted theses and data extracted from published papers. Along the Blue Nile the area most subject to changes (Khartoum - Sennar) was selected as study area due to increased population, impoundment of water dams and location of factories. The monitoring was part of ETMA programme. The study had shown the impact of construction of two dams (Sennar and Roseires) across the Blue Nile River channel on physical and chemical changes.
