Author: Eltohami, Yousif Idris; Alrofaey, Abeer H; Suleiman, Ahmed M
Abstract: Cavernous Hemangioma of the parotid gland is an exceptionally rare pathology of the salivary gland in adults, with only about 50 cases reported globally & a strikingly predominant female’s presentation, and an observed left sided preference. We thereby report an unusual case of a 34 years old Sudanese male with 5*5cm in diameter cavernous hemangioma affecting the right parotid salivary gland that started 6 years ago to alert surgeons to the possibility of such a lesion, which was diagnosed using MRA & treated with Superficial parotidectomy using Modified Blair incision with initial ligation of external carotid artery & facial nerve preservation , we describe the clinical course, explain the diagnostic approach, discuss the current treatment modalities and review the literature.
